Carousels earn attention differently from reels: a reel has to stop a scroll, a carousel has to survive a swipe, so the work sits on the first slide and on whether each slide earns the next. They also get a second chance at reach, because Instagram may show a carousel again on a different slide to someone who did not engage the first time. The text on the slides is part of the post, and it is often where the actual argument lives.
Worked example
A recipe as eight slides, ingredients first and method second, works as a card someone can follow in the kitchen.
The usual mistake
Putting the useful part on the last slide. Many people stop after two or three, so the payoff should come early.
